The comparison table above shows the methods of hair extensions side by side, but what does each method mean in detail and how will they affect your natural hair and your look?
K-tip individual bonds extensions
Ever wonder what hair extensions method all the celebrities use? Well, this is the one! Strand by strand hair extensions is the method of choice for most of my clients as well. Not only is it the most natural-looking of all the extension processes, it also lasts the longest (about three to six months). Individual strands of hair are applied to your own hair and are held with a special protein bond, which allows the hair to move just like your own. You can wash and style it, or even pull it back into a ponytail when you just don’t have time for anything else. This is the most natural custom way to create long hair.
Tape-in extensions by easihair pro
Tape-ins are a newer method of applying hair extensions, in which an adhesive tape is used to attach the extension to the natural hair. It is quickly becoming a very popular way of thickening and lengthening your client’s hair. Tape in hair extensions by easihair pro are made with 100% Cuticle Intact Remy Human Hair. These reusable hair extensions can be used to add length, volume, chemical-free color, or to correct or enhance a haircut. Tape-ins are sold in wefts instead of individual strands. Each weft is 2” wide and has the same amount of hair as 3-4 keratin strands. Since the hair is spread evenly on the weft, each piece fills in fine/thin hair without looking stringy. When installed correctly, they have a flat, seamless finish. Tape-in wefts cause less stress on hair than individual strand extensions, which makes them particularly great for thinner, more easily damaged hair. Installation time is also significantly less than k-tip or beaded extensions.
I- tip extensions
With I-tip extensions, human hair is attached with tiny locks (cylinders) or a sleeve that is either clear in color, or matches the color of your hair. Some of these micro products are made out of specially formulated polymer materials. Others are made from flexible nickel or copper tubing that is squeezed shut/molded onto your hair to hold the extension in place. These metallic locks are non-magnetic and do not rust, but if you have any kind of metal allergy or sensitivity, this extensions method is not for you.
Sewn Tracks / Beaded Rows extensions
Sewn tracks are when wefts of extension hair are sewn into tracks created by cornrows, braids or beaded rows and stitched onto the head in horizontal lines. The extension hair is sewn into the knotted track or beads with a needle and weaving cord. These extensions can last from 4-8 weeks and can be washed and styled like your own natural hair. Wefts are reusable and can be reused for up to 3-4 months depending on the quality of hair. This hair extensions method is one of the oldest ways to achieve length and fullness. The only drawback is that it can cause traction alopecia and tends to cause a very sore scalp for up to a week or two depending on your sensitivity. If done too tight it can pull your own hair out of the head. I do not recommend this method for anyone with fine or thinning hair. If considering beaded rows take into account that the metallic beads are non-magnetic and do not rust, but if you have any kind of metal allergy or sensitivity, this extensions method is not for you.
